The Weed Eaters
It’s hard to believe that we’re leading into the last month of the challenge! I hope everyone has had a chance to find some new favorites! Week 8 was another busy week, combined with an unplanned ER visit! I’m on the mend now, but all of it really cut into my watch time! I did have a handful of highlights, though! So let’s get to it!
Here are my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days 2026- Week 8 picks:
- The Weed Eaters (2025)- When a group of friends accidentally commits murder after smoking abandoned marijuana in remote New Zealand, the drug’s cannibalistic side effects force them to keep smoking to devour the evidence, triggering a paranoid struggle for survival as their food supply dwindles. Looking for the chillest cannibalism movie, maybe ever? Then The Weed Eaters is for you. I caught it while it was on the Letterboxd Store, and hopefully it will hit VOD or streaming before the holiday season because this is a fun bit of New Year’s Horror!
Tower of Terror
- Tower of Terror (1997)- A disgraced reporter investigates an abandoned luxury hotel where five people mysteriously disappeared sixty years earlier. I’m debating whether or not I should write an article about Disney’s made-for-TV and DCOM gateway horror films. Therefore, I figured I should check out one of the films I hadn’t seen. I kept thinking it felt like Are You Afraid of the Dark? and it turns out that the writer and director worked on that show! I had a good time with this one, and it makes me sad that it’s not available on Disney+.
- The Video Dead (1987)- On a quiet, tree-lined street, an old television set receives a single channel that repeats the same horror film over and over, freeing zombies from the grave to kill. I blind bought this one, and I’m so glad I did! This was fun and silly and even had a zombie dinner scene with chili! It’s on Tubi, so I say give it a shot!
