Can you believe we’re already 3 weeks into the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days Challenge? It’s blowing my mind how quickly this month has flown by! We even have 2 people who have already finished their first 100! Congrats to AshleyLynch and TheDarkBuzzard! I’m not quite that far, but I’m happy with my progress!
Here are my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days 2025- Week 3 highlights:
- The Hidden (1987)– When average, law-abiding citizens suddenly turn to a life of hedonistic behavior and violent crime, Detective Tom Beck is tasked with helping young FBI agent Lloyd Gallagher determine the cause. This was suggested to me by Joe Lynch when he appeared on Final Girls Feast. He thought that because I love Jason Goes to Hell, I’d enjoy this. He was right! It’s a great time and features a fantastic soundtrack!
- Critters 3– As fanged, furious furballs viciously invade an L.A. apartment building and sink their teeth into the low-rent tenants, Josh leads the battle to beat back the conniving critters and save the planet. In my quest to watch the movies I own, I decided to continue working through some franchises I’ve got gaps in. I watched Critters 2 on Easter, so this was next. As of this film, I’m a fan of the Critters franchise! These movies are so fun that I can’t wait to watch the rest!
- Parents– Michael is a young boy living in a typical 1950s suburbanite home… except for his bizarre and horrific nightmares, and continued unease around his parents. Young Michael begins to suspect his parents are cooking more than just hamburgers on the grill outside, but has trouble explaining his fears to his newfound friend Sheila or the school’s social worker. Parents has been on my list FOREVER. When I was asked to be on the Specter Cinema Club to discuss suburban horror, I suggested this one. I’m glad I did because we all really dug it! It wasn’t at all what I expected; it was far less schlocky than you’d assume.
- The ‘Burbs– When secretive new neighbors move in next door, suburbanite Ray Peterson and his friends let their paranoia get the best of them as they start to suspect the newcomers of evildoings and commence an investigation. But it’s hardly how Ray, who much prefers drinking beer, reading his newspaper, and watching a ball game on the tube, expected to spend his vacation. My husband and I paired this with Parents, and it was a perfect double feature. I can’t believe I waited so long to watch this one! Don’t sleep on it!
- Channel 13– A horror anthology film harking back to the mid-’70s and ’80s, inspired by Amicus productions and Creepshow, this Polonia bros. The film was shot in 1987 and was never finished, lost for nearly 30 years. Witness three tales, told by a hooded monk on the titular Channel 13. A video game geek returns from some arcade fun to watch movies on TV and can only get reception on Channel 13. He views tales of decadence and horror, containing killer scarecrows, monster birds, and cannibal spaghetti farm owners! Admittedly, I’m not a huge Polonia fan, but after a friend of mine told me to try their earlier stuff, I gave this one a shot. I was surprised by how charming this anthology is. It’s not the most amazing movie you’ll ever watch, but it’s worth its runtime and has some fun autumnal vibes.

I’m only 15 movies in, and I didn’t watch anything good this week. I’m thinking I’m going to focus on seeing some classics next week to improve my motivation. I have some John Carpenter movies I’ve been wanting to see like Prince of Darkness and Christine.
There is still plenty of time to catch up! Are you on the Discord server? Lots of folks are there chatting which helps with motivation and recommendations!
