Hollowgate (1988)
This last week was pretty busy for me. Fortunately, even though I didn’t watch a ton, the films I did were actually good! I guess I got lucky there! I also love that this week’s picks are 50/50 between releases that are new this year and older movies. It just goes to show that you should try to balance your watches for the challenge. So let’s get to it, shall we?
Here are my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days 2026- Week 7 picks:
- Gator Face (2026)- A Florida vacation becomes a blood-soaked fight for survival when a group of friends is hunted through the swamps by a savage cult that feeds its victims to ravenous alligators in the name of an ancient reptilian god. I never thought I’d live to see the day I recommended a movie that’s part slasher, folk horror, AND a creature feature. - Hollowgate (1988)- At a Halloween party, a young boy is almost killed by his drunken, alcoholic father. Ten years afterward, the boy goes on a murder spree. This was a movie that I blind bought from Terror Vision that happened to also be playing on Screambox. It looked fun, so I decided to make it one of the watch parties on the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days Discord server. It was basically an SOV autumnal slasher with vibes that reminded me of Fade to Black. I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it because it’s a lot of fun!
Resident Evil (2026)
- The Horrible Dr. Hichcock (1962)- In late 19th-century London, a woman weds a necrophiliac doctor whose first wife died under mysterious circumstances – and who might be returning from the grave to torment her successor. This was the September pick for Chattanooga Film Festival’s Double Secret Cinema Society group watch. I get that the synopsis can sound a bit iffy, but The Horrible Dr. Hichcock is actually a really well-shot bit of gothic horror. It has all the touchstones you’d want from that type of horror, including Barbara Steele. This is another one that I’m glad I already had in my collection.
- Resident Evil (2026)- Medical courier Bryan unwittingly finds himself fighting for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos. Resident Evil may be one of my favorite horror movies this year! It was an absolute blast, and if you can see it in the theater, I recommend it.
