We’re already 1/3 done with the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days challenge! Can you believe it? Where did August go?! I was concerned about Week 4 getting off to a slow start, but I did end up finding some interesting picks! So let’s get started!
Here are my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days 2026- Week 4 picks:
- Trashcans of Terror (1985)- After a chance encounter with a female bodybuilder – who is also an alien – loner and reluctant hero Percy “Spider” Leibowitz falls madly in love. She soon goes missing, and he turns to his military pal to find her and battle the army of deadly, intergalactic trash cans who he thinks are responsible – trashcans that also happen to be hell-bent on taking over Earth. I’m not sure how to even describe this movie. All I can say is that with a group of friends, it’s a lot of fun! Give it a shot!
- Church of the Damned (1985)- A small town is plagued with satanic murders, violent and bizarre. Local Investigator Messiah Ward and his partner Barney must unravel the clues and stop the bloodshed. The trail leads them to a dark coven of devil worshipers called The Brotherhood of Satan, and an encounter with a demon from the pits of hell. For at least the next month, there is a good chance that I’ll have a new Polonia movie on each list, given that one of my movie groups extended the Polonia Brothers theme for movie night. For this film, imagine an SOV version of Longlegs that has zombies. Intrigued? If so, this is the film for you!
- Faust: Love of the Damned (2000)- An artist sells his soul to the mysterious M in order to get revenge on the people who killed his girlfriend. Soon, he realises everything has a price, and he is transformed into a horned demon with a passion for killing. Faust: Love of the Damned was recommended to me when I was a guest on a podcast, and it was glorious! I had never heard of it, and it reminds me of exactly why I do this challenge. Getting to find something wild that was released when I was actively watching horror but somehow missed is always one of my favorite aspects.
- Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1982)- In 1846, Anthony Hope sails into London with the mysterious Sweeney Todd, a once-naive barber whose life and marriage were uprooted by a corrupt justice system. Todd confides in Nellie Lovett, the owner of a local meat pie shop, and the two become partners, as Todd swears revenge on those who have wronged him and decides to take up his old profession. In terms of musical adaptations, I’d only ever seen the Tim Burton release of Sweeney Todd. This made me want to see it on stage as soon as possible. I’m thrilled I found a DVD of this at Zia Records because I will be revisiting it!
The Shout (1978)- A traveller by the name of Crossley forces himself upon a musician and his wife in a lonely part of Devon, and uses the aboriginal magic he has learned to displace his host. We sadly lost Tim Curry last week (RIP), and I wanted to find something of his that I hadn’t seen. I stumbled upon this one on Letterboxd and noticed it was streaming on the Criterion Channel. It’s a weird movie that reminded me a lot of a cross between Flux Gourmet and Enys Men. Tim Curry isn’t a major character, but it was nice seeing him show up. Mileage may vary on this one for folks, though I say it’s worth seeing.
