Happy New Year! I’m a bit behind on getting this up but I couldn’t leave you hanging! 2026 is shaping up to be a fun year for horror and hopefully that means lots of gastro releases and re-releases!
January 1st
- Bone Tomahawk (2015)- During a shootout in a saloon, Sheriff Hunt injures a suspicious stranger. The doctor’s assistant, wife of the local foreman, tends to him in prison. That night, the town is attacked and they both disappear—only the arrow of a cannibal tribe is found. Hunt and a few of his men go in search of the prisoner and the foreman’s wife. (Shudder)
- Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)- Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all. (Prime Video)
- Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)- The infamous story of Benjamin Barker, a.k.a Sweeney Todd, who sets up a barber shop down in London which is the basis for a sinister partnership with his fellow tenant, Mrs. Lovett. Based on the hit Broadway musical. (Paramount Plus)
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)- A radio host is victimised by the notorious cannibal family while a former Texas Marshal hunts them. (Shudder)
January 9th 
- Chain Reactions (2024)- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre‘s impact on 5 artists – Patton Oswalt, Takashi Miike, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Stephen King, Karyn Kusama – through interviews, outtakes, exploring how it shaped their art, psyche from childhood trauma. (Shudder)
- Jungle Holocaust (1977)- An oil prospector escapes from capture by a primitive cannibal tribe in the Philippine rain forest and heads out to locate his missing companion and their plane to return home. (Screambox) Editor’s note: Due to its age and topic matter, some of the content is of its age in ways similar to films like Cannibal Holocaust.
- The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)- Five friends head out to rural Texas to visit the grave of a grandfather. On the way, they stumble across what appears to be a deserted house, only to discover something sinister within. Something armed with a chainsaw. (Shudder)
It’s not the biggest release month but there is plenty here to keep y’all busy! I strongly recommend Chain Reactions!
