Happy October! It’s Halloween month, and there is a ton of great horror coming to streaming this month. That also means that there are loads of gastro horror offerings as well! We are also in the last month of the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days Challenge! Hopefully, this list will help you finish off the challenge strong and give you some decadent spine-tingling treats!
October 1st
- Bones and All (2022)- Abandoned by her father, a young woman embarks on a thousand-mile odyssey through the backroads of America, where she meets a disenfranchised drifter. But despite their best efforts, all roads lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand that will determine whether their love can survive their otherness. (Peacock)
- The Grapes of Death (1978)- A young woman discovers that the pesticide being sprayed on vineyards is turning people into murderous lunatics. (Criterion Channel)
Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 (1990)- Two college students driving coast to coast are lured off the main highway and onto a deserted Texas road. Here they are stalked by the menacing Leatherface and his demented family…a bizarre cannibalistic clan with blood on their hands and a feast on their minds. The students’ only chance for escape is a survivalist with enough firepower to blast Leatherface and the rest of the grisly predators to hell. (Peacock)
- The Menu (2022)- A young couple travels to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises. (Paramount+)
- The Mist (2007)- After a violent storm, a dense cloud of mist envelops a small Maine town, trapping David Drayton and his five-year-old son in a local grocery store with other local residents. They soon discover that the mist conceals deadly horrors that threaten their lives, and worse, their sanity. (Peacock)
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995)- After a group of Texas teenagers leave prom night early and get into a car crash in the woods, they employ the aid of a nearby insurance agent, who calls in her tow truck-driving boyfriend, Vilmer Slaughter. Unfortunately for them, Vilmer is a sadistic killer with a mechanical leg who introduces them to his brother, Leatherface, and the rest of their twisted family. (Peacock, Tubi)
- Trick ‘r Treat (2007)- Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: an everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank, and a bitter old recluse receives an uninvited guest. (HBO Max)
- Trouble Every Day (2001)- Newlyweds Shane and June arrive in Paris for their honeymoon. In the process of trying to find a cure for his strange, bloodthirsty disease, Shane stumbles upon the story of a doctor and his flesh-eating wife. (Criterion Channel)
October 3rd
- Family Dinner (2022)- Overweight and insecure, Simi spends Easter weekend with her famous nutritionist aunt. The hope is that it’ll help her get on a healthier track, but as the aunt’s family’s icy dynamics and an increasingly malevolent atmosphere leave Simi feeling uneasy, weight isn’t the only thing she’s about to lose. - V/H/S/Halloween (2025)- A collection of Halloween-themed videotapes unleashes a series of twisted, blood-soaked tales, turning trick-or-treat into a struggle for survival. (Shudder)
October 10th
- The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007)- A group of National Guard trainees on a routine mission find themselves up against cannibalistic mutants in the New Mexico desert. (Hulu, Tubi) Editor’s Note: The first is also on Hulu, but doesn’t actually have any cannibalism in it.
October 17th
- 40 Acres (2024)- Hailey Freeman and her family are the last descendants of African American farmers who settled in rural Canada after the Civil War. In a famine-decimated near future, they now struggle to safeguard their farm, as they make one last stand against a vicious militia hell-bent on taking their 40 Acres. (Hulu)
- Dr. Butcher M.D. aka Zombie Holocaust (1980)- After Malukan immigrants engage in a string of corpse mutilations at various New York City hospitals, a doctor and a morgue assistant travel to the Maluku Islands to investigate. (Screambox)
October 24th
- Three… Extremes (2004)- Exploring the outer limits of the macabre, Three Extremes is a bracing triptych of horror stories uniting three of East Asia’s most compelling directors. (Arrow Player)
October 27th
- Return of the Killer Tomatoes (1988)- Crazy old Professor Gangreen has developed a way to make tomatoes look human for a second invasion. (Arrow Player)
