Sorry for the slight delay! I was working on a huge article and am just catching up on my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days Week 2 highlights! I didn’t watch as many movies since I was busy with rewatches for the aforementioned article. That said, I did get some watching in and found some worth highlighting! I think one will surprise you!
Here are my 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days 2025- Week 2 picks:
- Until Dawn– One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. This one got a lot of hate online, but I think it’s a fun watch reminiscent of early aughts horror, which is a soft spot for me.
- Arnold– Karen marries Arnold at his funeral and continues to get his money as long as she stays by his coffin. Meanwhile, various oddball relatives after Arnold’s wealth are being killed in a creative variety of ways. As I said in my Letterboxd review, this film is “Saw meets Tales from the Crypt with a musical number thrown in for good measure.”
- The Monkey– When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tears their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy. I can’t believe I slept on this one so long! I’m glad I got around to it though because it was totally my sense of humor! I especially loved the scene in the teppanyaki restaurant (of course).
- Clown in a Cornfield– Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. I love that this film is like an entry level slasher. Sure, for seasoned pros it may feel a little tame but that’s kind of the point. This is a great starting point for older teen horror fans.
Like always, I hope this gives you a few new films to add to your watchlist! Be sure to follow along with my list on Letterboxd and join the challenge’s Discord server.
